Children respond beautifully to natural forms of medicine. I specialize in infertility, pregnancy, and postpartum. I've treated teens with great success, but because I do not have enough knowledge and skills in pediatrics I have not treated babies & children. Dear Pediatric Pearls Committee,

as a practicing physician who includes acupuncture in my work, I am often frustrated that I do not have sufficient confidence to bring healing acupuncture therapy to children.

I have been a medical missionary to Haiti several times, and would really like to add pediatric acupuncture to my therapeutic armamentarium. With a people devoid of so much of Western Medicine, I know that Haitian children more realistically can be served by acupuncture. Needles and alcohol to sterilize the skin is more able to get past customs officials, who far too often require bribes for us medical missionaries to enter the country with the drugs and essentials of syringes, needles, rubbing alcohol and all the necessary associated equipment to bring health to such severely ill children.

Please know the information I receive here will be put to great use in my missionary medical practice with the Haitian people, in this venue, the children of impoverished Haiti will be able to obtain greater health.
